First Hill Streetcar Bike Improvements

FIRST HILL STREETCAR AND BICYCLE SAFETY ENHANCEMENTS PROJECT

E Yesler Way (between 14th Ave S and 12th Ave S) 14th Ave S (between S Jackson St and Yesler Way)

The Seattle Department of Transportation is working with King County Metro to address safety concerns on E Yesler Way and 14th Ave S. Several changes are being made to provide maximum separation of people who bike from the streetcar tracks:

  • Install a protected bike lane on the north side of E Yesler Way between 14th Ave S and 12th Ave S. Remove 15 parking spots
  • Relocate the Route 27 bus stop at the northwest corner of E Yesler Way and 14th Ave S to the northeast corner of the same intersection
  • Add a parking protected bike lane along the east side of 14th Ave S from S Jackson St to S Washington St by replacing existing angled parking with parallel parking and shifting existing parallel parking several feet. Remove seven parking spots
  • Make signage more visible to better alert people who bike of streetcar tracks.
