THE SOUTH LAKE UNION STREETCAR HAS NEW TICKET PAY STATIONS!
The South Lake Union Streetcar has new ticket vending machines! Buying a Streetcar ticket for a group or for all day use will become much easier with these new "TVMs." The TVMs have added functionality, allowing purchases of:
- Streetcar-only day passes ($4.50 adult, $3.00 youth and $2.00 senior/Regional Reduced Fare Permit)
- Multiple tickets (up to five tickets per transaction).
The TVMs accept coins (nickels, dimes, quarters, and dollar coins), cards (MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and Discover) or a combination of coins and card.

First Hill Streetcar
Update on First Hill Streetcar
Preparations are underway to begin service on the First Hill Streetcar Line, a new urban mobility option funded through Sound Transit’s “ST2” mass transit expansion plan. The First Hill Streetcar will support economic growth and strengthen connections among the places where people live, work and socialize. It will be an important link in the regional transit system, and will connect the diverse and vibrant residential neighborhoods and business districts of Capitol Hill, First Hill, Yesler Terrace, Central Area, Chinatown ID and Pioneer Square. The system will provide reliable, frequent service with headways of approximately 10 minutes during peak periods. Service will operate 5 AM to 1 AM Monday through Saturday. On Sundays and holidays, service will operate 10 AM to 8 PM.
A fleet of six streetcars will support this service, with three to five streetcars in operation during the service day. The streetcars are supplied by Inekon, the Czech company that built the streetcars that have operated on Seattle’s South Lake Union Line since 2007.
SDOT continues to monitor the assembly progress and will establish an opening date when the cars are closer to completion.

South Lake Union Line Welcomes ORCA Fare Transaction Technology
Do you use an ORCA card to ride transit in the Puget Sound region? The South Lake Union Streetcar now provides ORCA fare transaction processors at most station platforms. Look for the yellow posts and please tap your ORCA card before boarding. If you are transferring to or from a bus or Link Light Rail, the ORCA system will calculate your transfer. The City of Seattle has secured funding to plan and design the First Hill Streetcar Line’s Broadway Extension. This project would extend the line into Broadway’s retail core.
